To further our mission of providing Australian acute stroke nurses with expert stroke education and networking opportunities, ASNEN offers competitive scholarship opportunities to our members.  

These fantastic scholarships are made possible through the support of our corporate and private sponsors, and therefore vary year-to-year. Previous scholarships have included registration to the 2021 Smart Strokes Conference and course registration for the international NET SMART Junior stroke nursing course.

Details of upcoming scholarships and processes for application are emailed to all ASNEN members and are made available on our website and social media pages.

ASNEN and Angels Initiative ASPC 2024 Conference Scholarship – August 2024
The Acute Stroke Nurses Education Network (ASNEN) in partnership with the Angels Initiative were delighted to offer two nurses a scholarship for full registration to attend the ASPC 2024 Conference (combined Australian New Zealand Stroke Organisation and Asia Pacific Stroke Organisation conference). To be eligible for this scholarship they needed to submit an abstract for the conference. Congratulations to the following ASNEN members:

Smart Strokes 2024
A scholarship of $500 was awarded to Cecelia Duley to assist them with attending the Smart Stroke Conference which was held on the Gold Coast, 29-30 August 2024.

Smart Strokes (2021)
With thanks to an unrestricted educational grant from the Angels Initiative, ASNEN awarded 10 scholarships for registration to the 2021 Smart Strokes conference to the following ASNEN members:

ASNEN awarded 4 nurses with a scholarship to the internationally renowned NET SMART Junior course, thanks to an unrestricted educational scholarship from Boehringer Ingelheim Australia.

NETSMART Junior* (2014) 
ASNEN provided scholarships to 10 nurses to the internationally renowned NET SMART Junior course, thanks to an unrestricted educational scholarship from Boehringer Ingelheim Australia

*About NET SMART Junior
The Neurovascular Education and Training in Stroke Management and Acute Reperfusion Therapies (NET SMART) courses provide nurses with 24/7 access to a comprehensive scientific educational program that is focused exclusively on acute stroke diagnosis and management.

The NET SMART Junior program is ideally suited to nurses working with acute stroke patients acute stroke units, emergency departments, critical care units, catheter labs or other relevant settings. The course provides almost 40 hours of Continuing Professional Development, including 14 hours of pharmacology and is the perfect preparation for the NVRN exam. The program is endorsed by the UK Stroke Forum and the ANVC.
